The Department of Chemical Engineering was established in the year 1999 with B.Tech. programme in Chemical Engineering. Students are admitted to the programme based on the state level engineering entrance examination (KEAM) every year. An M.Tech programme in Computer Aided Process Design was started in the year 2011.

All laboratories are managed by well trained technical staff. Several academic and co-curricular activities are organized every year to bring up the department as a Centre of Excellence. The B.Tech. and M.Tech. programmes are now affiliated to the APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University (KTU) which offers a well planned curriculum.
The department functions as an integral unit to provide high quality education that moulds professionally competent and socially committed engineers. The department also offers opportunities for faculty and students to engage in research activities.
