This vibrant department has a bunch of excellent faculty and facilities that form its backbone. It has one of the best laboratory facilities in South India in the field of chemical engineering. Major electives offered in the curriculum include High Polymer Engineering, Petrolium Refinery Engineering, Unconventional Seperation Processes, Plant Utilities and Industrial Safety, Bio-Medical Engineering, Industrial Pollution Control, Process Modelling And Simulation, etc.

Indian Institute of Chemical Engineers (II Che) Student Chapter

A student chapter of II Che is functioning actively in the campus. The II Che arranges talks by eminent industrialists on recent topics of chemical engineering for the benefit of the faculty of students. Inaugurated by: Dr. Kulandai Raj, Chairman , IIChE Kochin Chapter.

Programs conducted

1. Seminar :- “Safety In Chemical Industries “ by Dr.G.Madhu ( Secretary IIChE Kochi. Division, Manager (Process),FEDO.)on 13-04-2002
2. Seminar: - “ Total Energy Management “ by Mr. K.C . Ramakrishnan , Deputy Manager (Process), FEDO) on 13-04-2002.
3. Industrial Visit to TCC on Nov 2002.

A seminar was organized and conducted by Dept. Of Chemical Engg, GEC Kozhikode and IIChE Student Chapter GEC Kozhikode on “Energy Conservation and Management” by Mr. C. Jayaraman, and Mr.Manoj (Petroleum Conservation Research Association) on 09-12-2002.

With the PCRA team eight students of Eighth Semester, B.Tech Chemical Engg conducted Energy Audit and Environmental Audit in Parryson Agrotech Ltd., West Hill.

Association of Chemical engineering Students (ACES)

The association of chemical engineering students (ACES) arranges technical talks by eminent professionals, and industry interaction programs with faculty from FEDO and other organizations. It also conducts several student level programmes aimed at acquainting the students with the difficulties and challenges faced by the industry.
